The New Jersey surf scene is unlike many others, where surfers avidly await hurricane season, and the cold waters and low pressure systems produced by the winter season. A durable “pay-to-play” attitude must be adopted in order to charge the best waves that New Jersey has to offer, as the winter water temperature will drop down below 40 degrees. Steep, hollow, and unforgiving. This turns many away except for the determined, who need just one good ride, to keep them coming back for more.
